Otto K. Dorn was born in 1875 in Cleveland, Ohio. He became interested in the ideas of Henry George after taking an economics course taught by Louis F. Post, then editor of the Cleveland Recorder, in 1896. In 1920, Dorn became head of a chain of retail stores, which brought him to New York City. While in NYC, he became active in the Manhattan Single Tax Club and later, the Henry George of Social Science. In 1930, Dorn was appointed Director of the HGSSS and in 1937, he was elected to the Board of the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation. Dorn also served as president of the American Journal of Economics and Sociology, edited by Will Lissner. Dorn died in 1958 at the age of 83.
