First Collection Added

The Henry George Birthplace, Archive, and Historical Research Center is making great progress cataloging and scanning historical documents relating to the life and work of Henry George, the Henry George School of Social Science, and the Single Tax movement.  As of February 2014, the BAHRC staff has cataloged nearly 10,000 documents, more than 300 of which have been digitized.

In addition to cataloging and digitizing these important historical documents, the BAHRC staff also is organizing them into separate collections with finding aids.  The finding aid for the first complete collection – The Henry George and Anna George de Mille Family Collection – is now available.  As they become available, scanned versions of the documents in this collection will be uploaded to the website.  In the meantime, here are a couple of historical “gems” from the collection:

“This Little Boat for My Little Girl, 1886”

Henry George Jr to Henry George, 1892

George’s Acceptance Speech, 1897
